Fine Arts

At TCOC, we believe the Arts should be and are a vital part of worship and ministry. Rather than the world forging out new music and methods with Christian Culture following behind, we believe that Christians should be paving the way, experiencing revelation and creative freedom through the arts—song, dance, theatre, media, photography, painting, etc. All of these forms of artistic expression not only have a place, but hold great significance in the overall worship experience. God, the Creator, formed us in His Image with an innate desire to be creators, as well. Although the Message of Christ and the Cross have never and will never change, ministry methodology must progress through the years, meeting the needs of this rapidly-changing society that God is calling us to. Opportunities for drama (through human video, illustrated sermons, skits, theatrical productions), dance (hip hop & interpretive ballet) and painting (parable paintings during the message) are cultivated and incorporated on a regular basis at TheChurchOfCorinth.
TCOC Music Ministry is both contemporary and traditional, progressive and reflective, old and new . . . meeting the needs of a diverse congregation. Lyrics from “Amazing Grace” to “I Stand Amazed in the Presence” to “Lord, I’m Amazed by You” reach people of all ages, races and denominational backgrounds. The TCOC Music Team is comprised of the following instrumentation: 2 keys, drums, bass, hand percussion, acoustic guitar, 2 electric guitars 4 – 6 upfront vocalists and a rotating ensemble (background vocalists). The music team meets at Pastor Jeff & Sherri’s home each Wednesday evening for dinner and rehearsal (our music homegroup).
In addition to weekend worship services, the TCOC Music Team participates in special events and productions throughout the year. TCOC hosts thousands of guests at their annual performances of The Nicodemus Account (an original Easter production), their 4th of July Celebration services and A TCOC Christmas. They are often invited to lead worship at district (North Texas and other districts/states) and community events, both spiritual and secular.
TCOC has produced two projects: A TCOC Christmas was recorded in 2005 and a live worship project, I Will Magnify, was recorded and released in 2008. Also in 2008, TCOC was recorded for a live DVD pilot project. Four worship sets were recorded, by high-definition cameras, to be utilized by church plants and churches without worship leaders/teams sufficient to lead their congregations. These DVDs will be available in Spring 2009.
At TheChurchOfCorinth, we believe in cultivating and raising up musicians, vocalists, worshippers. Not only are we blessed with an anointed adult worship team, but we also have a strong youth worship band that leads our Catalyst youth services in worship each week. The Catalyst Worship team participates in a Fine Arts competition each year where they are advanced to the national level and have been selected as one of the top teams in the nation.
